The Mourant Ozannes Jersey Employment team is partnering with the CIPD Jersey branch to host a conference on ‘Disability discrimination in the workplace’ on 2 May.
Focusing on preparation for upcoming changes in legislation, which will introduce protection against disability discrimination for the first time in Jersey, the conference will analyse the definition of disability and its perception, discussing key workplace issues and reasonable adjustments.
The Mourant Ozannes team will be joined by speakers from the Jersey Employment Trust who will be providing practical input and advice on ways in which employers can best support their employees.
According to the Disability Strategy for Jersey, approximately 14,000 people in Jersey have a disability of some kind. Whilst some disabilities are immediately apparent, others are not. From 1 September 2018, the Discrimination (Disability) (Jersey) Regulations 2018 will prohibit disability discrimination in a number of areas. In advance of this date, it is important that organisations understand what impact the legislation will have on them and how best those with disabilities can be supported under the new framework.
The event will take place on 2May at The Royal Yacht Hotel starting at 12:00pm. To register for the event, visit: https://www.mourantozannes.com/news-and-views/events/event-2018/180502-employment-and-cipd-conference.aspx
