Standard Chartered Jersey team tackles inequality and inclusion

Standard Chartered Jersey is taking on Home Run 2022, a Standard Chartered employee volunteering activity to raise funds for Futuremakers. Futuremakers, is the Bank’s global initiative to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion amongst young people. Home Run 2022 is a global challenge and invites employees from any of the Bank’s 59 countries to get involved. The Home Run challenge takes place from 1 to 31 May 2022. Employees can participate either individually or as teams in an aggregated long-distance walk or run (at least 20km per person) and launch a fundraising campaign to support their efforts. The Bank supports each employee with volunteering leave days for participating in Home Run. Standard Chartered Jersey staff are joining in the challenge as teams and individuals, running, walking or cycling. One of the teams, nick-named Good Future, is using the opportunity to walk and explore various beautiful areas of the Island and support this worthy cause. On 1 May, ten employees and their families covered a 6 km walk (photo attached). Commenting on the walk, Henry Baye, CEO of Jersey, Standard Chartered, said: “I feel very proud of our Standard Chartered Jersey colleagues for putting on their trainers for the Home Run challenge. We had a fantastic time enjoying the Jersey countryside in the sunshine this weekend, knowing that every step we took raised vital funds for young people who need it most.” Initiatives like Home Run give the Bank the opportunity to make a difference in its communities. Recently, Standard Chartered launched a new community project to support young people on the Island recover from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Jersey Health Citizens Programme is funded from Futuremakers by Standard Chartered and will be delivered by St John Ambulance Jersey.
