A reorganisation means that RBS International joins a new Commercial and Institutional franchise in NatWest Group to help drive growth.

Over the last two years NatWest Group has made good progress on delivering on its strategy – to champion the potential of people, families and businesses – and place the bank on a path to long-term sustainable growth.

As NatWest Group looks to further support customers’ growth ambitions and deliver on the next phase of its strategy, it is evolving its Commercial, NatWest Markets and RBS International businesses to form a single franchise.

The new franchise, Commercial and Institutional will be run by Andrew McLaughlin, current CEO of RBS International, and Paul Thwaite, current Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Banking at NatWest Group who will respectively lead the non-ring fenced and ring fenced parts respectively.

Olly Holbourn (pictured), current Director of Strategy and Ventures at NatWest Group, will be taking on the role of CEO for RBS International. Andrew will transition into his new role over the coming months until Olly joins RBS International from 1st July.

RBS International said that RBS International plays a critical role in NatWest Group’s institutional business and this new franchise will enable the bank to better serve non-personal customers and support their growth ambitions.

Over the last two years the bank has made good progress on delivering on its strategy – to champion the potential of people, families and businesses – and place the bank on a path to long-term sustainable growth. Its focus as a bank now, as it has been throughout the pandemic, is on doing everything it can to support customers to rebuild and thrive. Their success, and sustainable growth for the bank, will come from building ever closer and deeper relationships with customers.

Andrew McLaughlin, RBSI CEO, said: “It has been a privilege to lead RBSI for seven years. The business, the people and the places have a special place in my heart. The professional and caring approach of colleagues inspired me every day. There is no good time to leave a business you love. But there is a right time. And this is the right time for me to take up a new role with NatWest.”
