The Lihou House kitchen has been replenished with items for use by schools and other large groups following a donation from the Condor Community Fund.

The company has provided funding for the purchase of more than 150 items including large tea and coffee pots, jugs, baking and frying equipment along with dozens of glasses, mugs, tumblers and tea spoons. Much of the equipment was nearing the end of its useful life and needed replacing or upgrading.

Steve Sarre, Warden of Lihou Island, was very pleased with the new arrivals. “Each year, we welcome hundreds adults and children to Lihou who make use of the facilities and some things inevitably wear out or get damaged from time to time, so it is important to renew and replace them for everyone to enjoy.

“The donation from Condor has helped us update our kit which is very much appreciated.”

The Lihou Charitable Trust was set up in 2005 to maintain and operate Lihou House for the benefit of the community. Steve Sarre took up the reins as warden in 2019 and his role is to manage and maintain the House and guests. Fundraising is handled through The Friends of Lihou, which supports the core work of the Trust.

Greg Yeoman, Condor’s Commercial Director, “We are delighted to be able help Steve for the work he and his team of volunteers put in locally and hope the equipment will prove useful for the many visitors who spend time in Lihou over the coming years.”

Condor’s Community Fund was established in 2019 and supports Islanders who give up their time to develop community activities. The Fund sees numerous applications from across the Islands with a focus on sustainability, local benefit and enjoyment for others.
