Caring Cooks have launched their 2021 Christmas Hamper Appeal ‘From our family to yours’.
Many families in Jersey will be in need of support this Christmas, and with food costs increasing rapidly, Caring Cooks have decided to try and make things easier by offering food hampers to those who need help the most.
They are promoting a campaign called ‘From our family to yours’ which invites Islanders to make up a food hamper for a family in need. This could make a huge difference to people who are struggling to feed their families during the festive period, perhaps due to ill health or financial pressures.
If you would like to get involved, Caring Cooks ask that you create a hamper with basic food items suitable for families (no alcohol please) and drop off at a central collection point on 22nd December. The exact location will be shared nearer the time.
Caring Cooks have already attracted support from Jersey Gas, Olio, Waitrose, Alliance, Cimandis, Ardian, Accuro, H2o and Ports of Jersey, who are all keen to be involved, and they are hoping that more organisations will join them over the next few weeks.
If your business would like to get involved, please get in touch with Caring Cooks at [email protected].
“Things don’t just happen; people make things happen”
Perhaps your organisation could donate food items, volunteer time, or even suggest to colleagues that they might like to get involved in creating some hampers. All help is gratefully received!
Yvonne Corbin, Caring Cooks CEO said: “We are delighted to bring this campaign to life. Last year we partnered with Waitrose, where they very kindly supplied hampers to some of the families we identified as in need over Christmas.
“This was hugely successful, but we did identify many more families for whom a food hamper would make a real difference to. This is why we’re opening it up to the whole community. Things don’t just happen; people make things happen”.
