Late-night shopping will return to Guernsey this December with shops staying open until 9pm in St Peter Port each Thursday from 2nd December until 23rd December and on The Bridge on Tuesday 14th and 21st December.

Korinne Le Page, Head of Retail Development for Guernsey Retail Group, said: “In addition to the shops staying open, we are inviting charities and not for profit organisations to take pitches through Town to add to the variety for shoppers.  We know how hard the last 18 months have been for everyone and it so important to support our local retailers.

“With the cancellation of a number of Christmas and School Fayres, we hope charities and schools will also be able to take advantage of the crowds who visit town on the four late night shopping nights.”

Buskers will be positioned through town to entertain shoppers and The Petit Train Guernsey is providing a free park and ride between 6-9pm from Sir Charles Frossard House to Picquet House to help the public transport all Christmas goodies. “The train was incredibly popular last year and really added to the festive atmosphere and we hope people will enjoy this service again,” added Korinne.

Parking is also available at Lukis House, just a short walk into town. “If you do not want to have to worry about parking why not use the bus and take advantage of one of CT Plus’ night services, N1, N2, N3 and N4, which will depart from the bus terminus each Thursday at 9.30pm”, said Korinne.

As an added extra this year, ‘Christmas@No 15 the Pollet’, a special festive shop opened on 22 November.  The shop features a number of small businesses selling a wide range of unique and hand-made gifts.  Some of the businesses will change over the five weeks the store is open, so keep visiting as the stock will be continually changing.

Director of the Guernsey Retail Group, Vikki Seepaul, said, “We are excited to be offering late night shopping to islanders again this year. The island has some wonderful local businesses and with the shops extended opening hours along with Christmas markets in a range of locations throughout December, islanders can shop locally and support our local traders and hospitality venues.”
