Appleby has released the first in a series of podcasts with their community partner Sammy Cooil.
Appleby’s community partnership with Sammy Cooil is in its third year. The former Jersey Victoria College student and Deputy Head Boy (2020-2021) originally approached the law firm in his continuing endeavours to raise funds for local charities in order to support the Jersey community. A community partnership was formed in 2018, with the objective of providing blood pressure monitors along with pulse oximeters and hosting mental health awareness sessions in all senior schools in Jersey throughout the course of 2020.
Covid subsequently impacted these objectives, so plans changed and Appleby provided eleven Jersey senior schools with infrared digital thermometers at an especially relevant time for schools, in order to check the temperature of students.
Appleby and Sammy then provided blood pressure monitors and pulse oximeters to all secondary schools in Jersey.
Appleby and Sammy are now working on producing a series of podcasts featuring a number of special guests. The aim of the podcasts is to promote mental health awareness, specifically for issues impacting young people. The first podcast is focused on preparing students for their first year at University. Appleby and Sammy are joined by guest Sam Moore, a Jersey student who completed his first year at Durham University during the pandemic.
Jersey Managing Partner James Gaudin (pictured) commented “We are very proud to have worked with Sammy to provide digital thermometers, blood pressure monitors and pulse oximeters to schools in Jersey. Producing this series of podcasts is a new way for Appleby to promote mental health awareness for young people and we are looking forward to continuing to work with Sammy on further initiatives.”
