Jersey Community Foundation awards the first wave of Arts, Culture, Heritage, Science and Sports lottery grants.

In December 2020, GoJ made changes to the way that the CI Lottery proceeds were distributed to local community organisations. As a result of this, the Jersey Community Foundation (JCF) was awarded 50% of the 2019 Channel Islands lottery proceeds to distribute to Arts, Culture, Heritage, Science and Sport organisations in Jersey and yesterday, it was announced that JCF will once again be awarded 50% of the 2020 Channel Islands lottery funds.

This change enables a wider range of community organisations to apply for funding from CI Lottery proceeds, and at a time when many local organisations have been negatively impacted by Covid-19.

The first grant round took place in July 2021 and applications totalling over £800,000 were received from a wide range of very small to larger more established organisations across all the sectors. Over 14 grants ranging from £1,200 to £50,000 have now been awarded.

Some of the organisations that have been awarded grants in this first round include:

  • £40,000 to ArtHouse Jersey to support the inclusive Big Ideas Immersive Exhibition
  • £31,331 to Société Jersiaise to create a new Online Publishing Platform
  • £25,000 to Jersey Cricket to employ a full-time Female Performance & Development Officer
  • £18,000 to Le Don Balleine Incorporated Association to add Jèrriais to the Linguascope Language Learning website and app
  • £4,725 to Jersey Table Tennis Association to provide after-school table tennis coaching

The next closing date for applications is the 4th October and the JCF will be accepting online applications from August.

Anna Terry, CEO of the Jersey Community Foundation commented, “The CI lottery proceeds are there to benefit the whole of our island community and it is inspiring to see the energy and enthusiasm across all the sectors with such a broad range of applications received in this first grant round.

We are keen to support a wide range of organisations across all the lottery sectors, and we encourage anyone interested in applying to get in touch to discuss your project idea”.
