Oben Regulatory, a regulatory consultancy firm based in Jersey, has opened an office in the Isle of Man.
Since launching in 2016, Oben has swiftly built a reputation in Jersey and has achieved success in Guernsey. The office in the Isle of Man, launched in collaboration with an established local regulatory expert, ensures provision of a service offering across all the Crown Dependencies. Steve Billinghurst, formerly a partner of Deloitte and leader of PwC’s Advisory Services, will head Oben Regulatory’s Isle of Man operation.
Steve has worked with financial and gaming regulated entities in an advisory capacity, as well as acting as liquidator under Manx legislation. More recently, he led PwC Isle of Man’s Advisory Services deepening their regulatory investigation and advisory services and developing their blockchain and broader fintech propositions.
Steve works regularly with the Isle of Man Government’s digital agency as regulatory lead of the blockchain team and with its Business Agency in relation to the introduction of its cannabis-based medicinal product export licensing and regulatory framework.
“The opening of Oben’s new office is an important step towards realising our ambition to be the ‘regulatory provider of choice in the Crown Dependencies’, said Director, Alexandra Ruddy. “Our firm has provided value and insight to clients in Jersey and we are confident that Steve will bring his experience and knowledge to ensure that the clients of Oben in the Isle of Man will receive the same high standards of regulatory advice.”
Steve said: “I am looking forward to leading Oben Regulatory (IOM) Limited, working collaboratively with the Jersey Oben team, and establishing the valued brand in the Isle of Man. Having spent numerous years working in Jersey I look forward to reconnecting with previous contacts.”
