Butterfield has announced its sponsorship of the 2021 Jersey ‘Director of the Year – Start-up category’.
The category is part of this year’s Institute of Directors (IoD) Awards celebrating leadership talent, success and achievement. Nominations for the Award have been collated and full entries are now being submitted through the IoD website.
The criteria for the 2021 Director of the Year – Start-up award looks at the market opportunity identified by individual entrepreneurs, the model used to capitalise on it and the execution within the first three years of trading. Judges will consider the meeting of initial targets, the vision for growth and innovation, the understanding of key challenges, customers and the competitive landscape, as well as a recognition of the importance of good corporate governance and company culture.
Noel McLaughlin, Managing Director of Butterfield in Jersey, said: “This is the first time Butterfield has sponsored the IoD Awards in Jersey and we are pleased to play our part in recognising and celebrating the success of individuals and their businesses.
“Like the IoD, Butterfield is committed to being at the forefront of responsible business. We believe the IoD plays an important role in the director community in Jersey and beyond, helping to set standards for business leaders nationwide and support truly effective leadership. We very much look forward to the awards, to hearing the stories of those who are nominated and encourage all Jersey directors to submit their entries before the deadline at the end of this month.”
Lisa Springate, Chair of IoD Jersey, said: “We are delighted to welcome Butterfield as a sponsor of this year’s Start-up category for the 2021 Director of the Year Awards. The combination of the pandemic and preparations for Brexit meant that 2020 produced exceptionally tough operating conditions, forcing directors to reassess business models and respond at speed with bold, innovative decisions. These monumental efforts deserve recognition.”
The 2021 Award winners are due to be celebrated on Friday 17th September at the Gala Dinner, a black-tie ceremony to be held at the Royal Yacht. Award entries must be submitted by the closing date of 30 June 2021. Click here to find out more.
