Woodside Logistics is helping to shape a more sustainable future for the Channel Islands, by switching their commercial fleet from petroleum diesel to 100% renewable diesel (RD100).
The Jersey-based professional logistics company decided to make the switch after committing to reduce their carbon footprint. This is just the first step for the company as they transition to a greener future.

By switching to RD100 we are helping to decarbonise one of the most emission-intensive parts of our business. With the significant reduction in smoke, nitrogen oxides, and particulates, we will really notice the difference locally. And following the success in Jersey, we have switched our fleet in Guernsey to RD100 as well.”
100% renewable diesel is supplied solely by Rubis in the Channel Islands, under the name RD100. Made entirely from 100% renewable materials, the revolutionary new fuel outperforms other biodiesels and fossil diesel and will cut global carbon emissions from diesel engines by up to 90% over its lifecycle.

An ongoing problem for local motorists with diesel engines is the maintenance of their diesel particulate filters (DPF). In Jersey, where journeys are shorter, engines are often unable to reach and maintain their optimum temperature for the filters to work effectively. Instead, regular cleaning or even replacements are required. But renewable diesel promises to assist in this ongoing maintenance and reduce costs, prolonging the use of these filters and improving fuel consumption due to the fuel’s clean properties.
RD100 is clear, odourless and is refined from 100% renewable sources such as vegetable oils from rapeseed, sunflower and soybean, and waste fats such as animal fats or used cooking oil. It has better combustion and cold temperature resistance meaning it is better for diesel vehicles, particularly in Jersey where journeys are short, and engines don’t reach full operating temperature. RD100 can replace fossil diesel today.
