Guernsey Chamber - Sustainable business

For the second year running, the Sustainable Business Initiative (SBI) of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce are calling for businesses to fill out their annual Business Sustainability Survey.

SBI will be collecting data on environmental issues which will inform the group’s work with the Government and benchmark Guernsey businesses against the UK.

The survey looks to explore how important sustainability is to your business, why you care about environmental issues, what your business is currently doing regarding sustainability, among other questions.

Rollo de Sausmarez, Co-lead of Sustainable Business Initiative, says: “Since last year’s survey was run, the States of Guernsey’s has committed the island to a net-zero future. To do that, its clear that individuals, businesses and the States themselves need to be measuring and mitigating their environmental impacts. This survey will help us understand how businesses’ approach to sustainability have changed over the last year. It’s important to conduct this survey every year so we can see how responses change over time, and where we can celebrate changes and react to areas of concern.

“We need to understand how far Guernsey businesses are prepared to consider their environmental impact and act to mitigate it. There is an opportunity to be leaders in sustainability and show the world and conversely there is great risk in inaction.”

Jennifer Strachan, Co-lead of SBI said “Last year’s survey highlighted that while there was a hunger amongst Guernsey Businesses to learn more about their impact and opportunities to become more sustainable, many lacked the confidence to find the resources to do so. As a result SBI has focused on a range of events providing resources for businesses to better develop their understanding of the many issues concerning sustainability.”

The survey takes 5 minutes to complete and can be found here.
