The Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner’s (JOIC) data protection renewal window for 2021 is now open.
Since the start of this year, organisations of ALL shapes, sizes and types from a wide range of industries across the Island have renewed their annual registration with the Island’s data protection regulator, the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (JOIC).
Under the Data Protection Authority (Jersey) Law 2018, organisations in the Island that process (use) people’s personal information, must now renew their data protection registration with the JOIC in order to continue processing (using) personal information as part of their activities during 2021.
The law applies to organisations of ALL shapes, sizes and types including landlords, childminders, charities, commercial businesses, animal husbandry and welfare, social clubs and associations including PTAs, health, wellbeing and beauty, manufacturing, wholesale and retail, leisure and fitness, not-for profit organisations and construction.
Data Protection law exists to protect Islanders by making sure organisations manage the personal information they hold in a fair and lawful way, as well as being accountable to their customers for their actions.
The JOIC renewal window opened on 1st January 2021 and closes on 28th February 2021. Payment must be received by 28th February 2021.
