Jersey Finance is gearing up for its annual private wealth conference on Monday 14 December, which is being transformed into a virtual event this year for the first time.

The half-day event, entitled ‘Making a Positive Impact’, will focus on the themes of sustainable finance and philanthropy, with guest speakers including former Leader of the Conservative Party and foreign secretary, Rt Hon Lord William Hague, and comedian, writer and mental health campaigner Ruby Wax OBE.

The event, which is usually held in London every year, is being run virtually to ensure all delegates can attend as usual, despite any COVID-19 limitations. The conference will be live streamed online via an innovative, bespoke platform hosted primarily from a location in Jersey. By collaborating with award-winning on and off Island suppliers, Jersey Finance aims to deliver a high-quality experience to a global audience.

A discussion session on green investments and sustainable finance will be moderated by Dr Emiko Caerlewy-Smith, Founder and CEO Kit Consulting. Panellists include: Andrew Mitchell, Founder, Equilibrium Futures; John David, Head of Rathbone Green Bank Investments, Rathbones; Alison Cambray, sustainability and climate change specialist, PwC; and Kurt Morriesen, Head of Sustainable Investments in Europe, United Nations.

The second discussion session on the future of philanthropy will be moderated by freelance writer Gwyn Garfield-Bennett. Panellists will include: Richard Joynt, Executive Director, Ocorian; Sarah Gordon, CEO, Impact Investing Institute; Darshita Gillies, Founder & CEO, Maanch; and Fergus Drake, Chief Executive Officer, Crown Agents.

Tessa Clarke, CEO and Co-founder of food-sharing app, OLIO, will participate in a  fireside chat moderated by Rod Christie-Miller, Chief Executive & Partner, Schillings.

Those wishing to book a place for the event can do so on the Jersey Finance website here. Please note that this event is only open to Jersey Finance members and costs £175.

Commenting ahead of the event, Joe Moynihan, CEO Jersey Finance said: “We are delighted to still be able to welcome delegates to our annual private wealth conference, despite difficulties which all physical events have faced this year. We have adapted our flagship event, opening up the conference virtually to a worldwide audience. You can expect a high-quality interactive, personalised experience with a host of interesting, expert speakers discussing key themes affecting the private wealth landscape. Sustainable and green investments, as well as philanthropy, are really pertinent, especially since we have all faced such an uncertain year. Many investors are looking to use their wealth for good and this is something we are very keen to explore at the conference in December”.
