Offshore law firm and governance services business, Mourant, has appointed Julie Melia as Head of Property in a move that complements the firm’s strategy of delivering a range of strategic services to key clients and businesses based in Jersey.
Mourant Jersey Managing Partner, Daniel Birtwistle, said: “We’ve been working with the team over the last few months to redirect our strategy and approach, focusing a growing percentage of time on advising on and securing new commercial property and development work and partnering with our market-leading Finance & Corporate Group to support property elements of Jersey transactions, or property mandates for related, significant client relationships.”
“Julie’s appointment is a coup for us and she adds significant fire-power to our team, as well as bringing great strategic skills and insight to our long-standing strategy of delivering legal and governance services to Jersey PLC.”
Julie has over two decades experience and is well known within Jersey’s property market. She specialises in all areas of Jersey property including commercial acquisitions and leases, development schemes, planning issues, mergers and acquisitions and property finance.
Julie said: “I’m really looking forward to working with the established and highly regarded team here at Mourant. They are collectively one of the few teams in the market capable of bridging the gap between straight forward property deals and more complex multi-jurisdictional and cross-practice matters working collaboratively with colleagues from various areas of the firm. They are also skilled at discreetly handling the most sensitive of instructions, and have a significant client-base built on trusted relationships.”
“It’s been an inconsistent year for the property market in Jersey and the agents and advisers have shown incredible resilience. Whilst we are still in an uncertain market, there are some really interesting and complex transactions happening and it will certainly be good to be at the forefront of these, working alongside colleagues across Mourant.”
