2020 Jersey TechWeek, organised by Digital Jersey, will be presented as an online television channel, with multi-camera live programmes beamed to the island and around the globe from Monday 19 to Friday 23 October.

In keeping with the TV theme, TV presenter Gary Burgess, will top and tail the sessions, as well as take part in specially recorded films going beneath the skin of the island’s tech. The aim is to ensure viewers get to enjoy fully produced live shows, rather than webcam-style webinars.

The best of the island’s digital community and some of the world’s biggest tech brands, including key figures from IBM, Ocado, World Bank, Google and Microsoft, will feature during the week.  They will demonstrate the very latest trends and developments for the industry, as well as sharing with the world all that Jersey’s growing tech sector has to offer.

The twice-daily programmes will include live demonstrations of technology, panel debates with world-leading experts, and insights into emerging tech trends – with fintech, artificial intelligence, digital health, creativity and how all things digital have helped drive Jersey’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic among the line-up.

Digital Jersey CEO Tony Moretta said: “Ever since we announced Jersey TechWeek was going online, we’ve had people registered to watch the sessions that look of greatest interest to them. In many cases we’ve had people register to watch them all. I was clear at the outset that nobody needs another webinar in their life these days, which is why we’ve turned Jersey TechWeek into its own online television channel.”

It all begins with a Digital Design Challenge on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, where three £1,500 prizes are up for grabs. Then from Monday 19 to Friday 23 October, there will be one morning and one afternoon television programme each day, culminating in the launch of the Jersey TechAwards on the Friday afternoon.
