IoD Jersey has announced its inaugural ‘2020 Diversity Series’ event in association with The Diversity Network and Lean In Jersey.
At the event, which will be held on 14 February, Dr. Emiko Caerlewy-Smith, Chair of the IoD Jersey Diversity Sub-Committee, will present the 2020 Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Vision Statement, aimed at promoting and embedding progressive diversity and inclusion (D&I) activity across Jersey organisations.
In addition, Co-Founder of the Diversity Network Kate Wright will offer practical advice on how to approach D&I implementation within organisations; and Founder of Lean In Jersey Pippa Davidson will facilitate an in-audience panel to share case-study experiences of D&I activity on-island.
At the event, which is sponsored by Smith and Williamson, individuals and businesses will have the opportunity to sign a statement of support for the Vision, to signal their intention to collaborate with IoD Jersey and drive the D&I agenda across the Island.
Dr. Emiko Caerlewy-Smith says: “Diversity and Inclusion should be at the forefront of our conversations throughout Jersey, not only because we believe it is the right thing to do but because D&I is the right thing for businesses to succeed. It is a valuable source of enrichment, innovation and creativity. The most successful organisations will actively encourage and include a diverse range of perspectives at all levels of management but this can be difficult to achieve in practice.
“Through our 2020 Vision Statement and the work of the Diversity Sub-Committee, we are planning on giving organisations the tools to realise tangible D&I actions and outcomes.”
The IoD Jersey Diversity Sub-Committee has plans to create, curate and distribute a resource bank of engaging diversity collateral, facilitate diversity focused events and undertake diversity driven research projects throughout 2020.
Paul Coleshill, Head of Professional Services at Smith and Williamson, who is sponsoring the event commented: “Smith and Williamson is delighted to be able to support the continued work by Lean In, IoD Jersey and The Diversity Network to assist “shifting the dial” on diversity. At Smith and Williamson, embracing diversity is in our DNA and we reap the tangible benefits that this brings from idea creation to opening up new markets. It is our strategy to continue to be one of the excellent team of sponsors on the Island to make positive changes in Jersey.”
The event will take place at the The Royal Yacht Hotel on 14 February from 7:45am to 9am and places can be booked via Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com/e/diversity-4-inclusion-turning-dialogue-into-action-tickets-90622509365. Tickets are £18 for IoD members and £22 for non-members.
