HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man is asking islanders to donate children’s books this Christmas as part of an initiative to encourage young people to read more.
From now until 12 December, islanders will be able to donate new and near new books for children aged 0-12 years old at dedicated ‘book drops’ in any of the Bank’s branches in the islands.
In Jersey, all books received will be donated to two of HSBC’s community partners, the Jersey Child Care Trust (JCCT), in support of its ‘Raising Early Achievement in Literacy’ (REAL) program, and to Every Child Our Future, who will distribute the books to all non-fee paying primary schools across the island.
In Guernsey, books will also be distributed through Every Child our Future to primary schools, whilst in Sark and Alderney, books will be given to the head teachers of the local primary schools.
