Locally owned, LV Care Group has opened its 6th nursing home in Jersey, Les Charrieres Nursing Home in St Peters.

The new care facility, set in a redeveloped 1600’s farmhouse on the site of the old Les Charrieres Hotel in St Peters, has a capacity of 50 rooms to care for those requiring both short and long-term nursing and high need residential care in Jersey.

New residents have already moved into the new facility which comes after nearly two and a half years of building and redevelopment since the Group acquired the old hotel site in November 2017. The home has been built to deliver the highest modern standards of care including private terraces, Wi-Fi, cinema room and beauty salon.

Nick Bettany, CEO of LV Care Group said: “We are really pleased to be able to open the doors to Les Charrieres, particularly at a time when the care sector in Jersey, and around the world, is under intense pressure in the fight against Covid19. We continue to make considerable investment into our facilities and staff as part of our ongoing commitment to provide the highest level of residential care in the Island.”

He continued: “Our staff have been working tirelessly since Covid19 hit our Island community. They must be commended for how professionally and effectively they have looked after residents across our homes during this challenging time and their immense effort towards protecting some of the most vulnerable amongst our community.”

Les Charrieres, in line with all other LV Care Group Homes, currently has a stringent approach to tackling Covid19. Anyone accepted into residency at Les Charrieres from Jersey Hospital will have completed a Covid19 test prior to admission. LV Care Group is also conducting its own testing regime for all residents and staff on a regular basis using testing kits the Group has sourced privately. LV is continuing to follow the latest local Government advice and currently not allowing any external visitors to the new home, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who are required to adhere to strict protocols.

A total of 50 staff have been employed to work within the home, which is managed by Catia Magalhaes, with additional Group plans in place to mitigate should any staff members need to self-isolate. All staff have undergone the necessary induction training digitally via the Group’s online training arm, Care Academy, which moved its services online as a result of the pandemic.
