Guernsey-based DLM Architects have launched ShedQuarters, a remote workspace, creative or exercise studio, play zone or just a place to escape. ShedQuarters are architecturally designed, high quality and sustainable buildings for virtually any use – locally designed, locally produced and locally enjoyed.

Designed to meet the exemptions of local planning regulations, subject to site specifics, and without the need for off island shipping, ShedQuarters provides the perfect solution to create a space to work, play or relax. A modern contemporary exterior, enhancing your landscape and adding value to your home, revealing a quality and spacious interior which can be customized to your every need.

There is no question that Covid-19 has changed life the way we know it. But every cloud has a silver lining and it’s comforting to look for the positives through these challenging times. In many respects we have been forced to stop and most will agree, this was long overdue in our busy lifestyles.

For those of us fortunate enough to be in good health, the biggest impact has been on the way we work, with both financial and logistical impacts. The virtual overnight demand to use our homes for work, school, living and playing has no doubt caused additional stress for many. Adding to this pressure, is the need for people to be separated from each other which has brought the biggest challenges for businesses across the world. Companies continue to do their best to digitize and join the on-going and explosive demand for webinars, video conferencing and other sophisticated digital tools.

The long-term effects of this virus and being prepared for our future is likely to change how we think about home and work. This led the DLM team to ask some key questions:

  • In the current climate, how do we feel about our work space and home space and what will look like in the future?
  • Are we happier and more productive working from home?
  • Will we have to adapt to office environments to ensure staff can socially distance and still be productive and happy?
  • Do commercial office fit outs need to be re-considered at huge cost or is there a another, more versatile and beneficial solution?
  • How are our homes holding up to the challenge?

The concept for Shedquarters was born – a locally designed and built solution acting as an extension of the office at home, enabling you to maximise your work output from a place of familiarity and comfort whilst providing a contemporary ,flexible space for everyone.
