Fletcher Sports launches ‘Team Guernsey’ shirt design competition to raise funds for health care workers

Fletcher Sports has launched a competition for islanders to design a Team Guernsey shirt that will raise money for frontline healthcare workers locally.

Moved by the community spirit shown in recent weeks, the family-run business wanted to create a lasting representation of #GuernseyTogether.  Shop owners Trudy and Terry Ferbrache said it was all about celebrating working as a team to beat the pandemic.

“We felt we wanted to do our bit, and as specialists in the production of teamwear we came up with an idea to reflect the team spirit that has emerged. All the best teams have a kit and we, as an island community, are a great team,” said Mr Ferbrache.

Mr Ferbrache said he had been heartened by the level of coming together within the community, from groups forming quickly to provide essential deliveries to the elderly and vulnerable, to individuals setting up their own fundraising initiatives and islanders volunteering to help the health care professionals.

“It’s true to say that there has rarely been a more appropriate hashtag than #GuernseyTogether, and Fletcher Sports is proud to be part of our island community,”  he said.

Mr Ferbrache said he wanted islanders of all ages to get creative and design a t-shirt that we can wear with pride. The winning design will be printed onto t-shirts and sold to help those battling to keep our island fit and healthy – something Fletcher Sports is passionate about. Every penny of the profit made from sales of the t-shirts (which will be printed once government guidelines allow) will go to healthcare workers in Guernsey.

Designs should be sent to [email protected] by 18 April.
