Jersey’s Chief Minister made a statement late on Friday afternoon. In a scathing attack on social media ‘conspiracy theorists’, he alluded to rumours that are untrue.

He reiterated the new measures for over 65’s and vulnerable islanders, but didn’t go as far as to lock down the island.

In summary, the £100 million business support package, which commences on 1 April, offers 80% employee salary to be paid by the States, up to a maximum of £1600 per month, per employee.

Crucially, it will also include the self-employed, bettering Guernsey’s business support package.

Charities will be given aid from the C.I. Lottery fund and the Jersey Reclaim Fund in blocks of £250,000.

More details to follow.
