EY has appointed Áine Slater as Associate Partner and she has taken over the role of EY’s Head of Tax in Jersey. This promotion will involve her overseeing EY’s ambitious growth strategy for their Jersey tax team, whilst continuing to support clients navigating the complexities and opportunities of local and international tax policies, including the Economic Substance requirements.

Áine brings with her over 17 years of professional tax experience and a unique blend of perspectives, global connectivity, cross-border expertise and has experience of both financial services and non-financial services clients. She joined EY’s Jersey office in 2005, having become a member of the Irish Taxation Institute and gaining cross sector industry experience in Dublin, before moving to Jersey. She has extensive knowledge of both local and overseas taxation from an offshore perspective, with significant experience of providing Jersey and UK tax compliance and tax advisory services.

In her new role, Áine will continue to support EY’s clients through the challenges they face from the ever-changing regulatory environment. She will be actively representing and promoting the interests of Jersey’s finance industry through her positions on several working parties that are focused on ensuring Jersey’s prosperity through maintaining stability for the island.

Áine said: “I am delighted with this promotion. It comes at a time when our clients are going through a period of significant regulatory change due to the island’s tax policies continuing to be under international scrutiny. I’m excited about the opportunity my promotion presents for me to work more closely with industry and government to drive the tax agenda to secure Jersey’s prosperity for the future.

“In my new role I am most looking forward to leading the Jersey tax team and investing time in ensuring that the supportive culture I have benefited from continues under my direction. During my progression within the firm I have been grateful for the support and investment in my development from EY’s CI Leadership and our global tax network. The mentorship I have received has been particularly invaluable in enabling me to thrive professionally, whilst relishing the joys and challenges of raising a young family.”

Andrew Dann, EY’s Channel Islands Managing Partner, said: “Áine’s promotion to Associate Partner is a fantastic personal achievement and a testament to her hard work and commitment throughout her career. It’s gratifying to have seen her join as part qualified tax consultant in 2005 and now join our CI Leadership team as an Associate Partner to take on the leadership of our Jersey tax team. I wish her every success in her new role.”
