The Guernsey branch of a leading national charity has marked the start of the new decade with two new key staff appointments.

Mrs Kerry Ciotti has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Citizens Advice Guernsey, with Mrs Ali Marquis joining as the new Deputy CEO. The charity has a management team of four part-time, paid staff, with a volunteer team of some 80 islanders, including the Friends of Citizens Advice (see notes 1-3).

Formerly Deputy CEO of the Guernsey bureau for 11 years, Mrs Ciotti commented: “I’m really delighted to have been given this opportunity to lead Citizens Advice Guernsey. I’d never really thought of myself heading up the team but I think that my experience as Deputy will be helpful in taking Citizens Advice forward into this new decade. It’s a new chapter and I’m very excited.”

Mrs Ciotti added: “What gives me the confidence to step up into this role is the team we have here. We have a dynamic and supportive Management Committee and it’s a real privilege to work with volunteers, who provide a much-needed service to so many islanders. Also, the Friends’ vital fundraising work through their shop never ceases to amaze me. I feel very proud to be responsible for such a terrific team.”

Mrs Marquis, who was appointed Deputy CEO of Citizens Advice Guernsey in December, was formerly Personnel and Training Manager of Guernsey’s Social Security Department, before becoming Deputy Director of HR in the Health Department. She also has over 10 years’ experience of working in the island’s charitable sector. Mrs Marquis commented: “I’m so pleased to have joined Citizens Advice Guernsey, which feels like a great fit for me. I’ve always been drawn towards helping people, which is exactly what this charity does day in, day out. Life is becoming increasingly complex and I hope that my experience and personnel skills will help Citizens Advice to face the challenges of a new decade.”
