Deloitte Guernsey announces new charity partner GROW

Deloitte Guernsey has started a new community partnership with Guernsey’s Rural Occupational Workshop (GROW) as part of its One Million Futures initiative.

Over the next three years, Deloitte will be working with the charity to provide internal business support, volunteer time and help with their fundraising.

One Million Futures is Deloitte’s national community impact programme. The aim is to help one million people get to where they want to be through access to education and employment.

Founded by the Guernsey Society for the Mentally Handicapped (now Guernsey Mencap), GROW has been providing development and support to individuals who are learning disabled, physically disabled or suffering from mental health issues for 35 years.

GROW provides a safe and secure sheltered environmental workshop where individuals are given the opportunity of supported employment or attendance training within traditional horticulture and craft related activities, as well as retail and hospitality.

Through their training, individuals at GROW produce a variety of fruit, vegetables and plants which are sold onsite, along with providing horticultural services to the wider community.

“As GROW relies on donations and sponsorships to keep the operation running, we are so grateful for this new partnership with Deloitte so we can continue to ensure that our service users have the very best working environment,” said Eddie Higgins, Manager at GROW.

“We are excited to launch our new One Million Futures partnership with such a great, local organisation. GROW already does so much for our community so we are thrilled to be a part of this initiative. We have a fantastic local team working on this and we are all delighted to be supporting such a fantastic cause.” said Jo Huxtable from Deloitte.

“The charity’s purpose is very much aligned with the aims of One Million Futures, which is to reduce inequality by helping people to overcome barriers to education and employment.”

Nationally, Deloitte is currently working with over 60 charities, enterprises and schools across the UK, supporting them with pro bono, volunteering and fundraising.
