The Guernsey Institute College has welcomed 55 employers through its doors for its Future Workforce event.
Employers represented all sectors of the local business community as well as charitable and not-for-profit organisations.
Students had the opportunity to attend life skill presentations and workshops during the morning and then a recruitment fair during the afternoon when they were able to discuss potential career pathways and opportunities with employers.
Workshops included:
- 10 things you will want to know before your first day in the office
- Insight into the hospitality industry and mocktail masterclass
- Preparing for your career and building your personal brand
- Achieving your potential, how to be happy and successful
Charlotte Froome, CEIAG Manager at TGI College said: “This type of event forms part of the enrichment curriculum for the students which complements their main study programme. As a career-focused organisation our strategy is to develop employability skills to ensure that our students are ready for the world of work when they complete their qualifications with us and take the next step on their career journey.”
Jane Fears, Business Development Director for TGI College added: “We were delighted with the number of employers who gave up their time to attend. This is a key event in the College calendar and gives our students a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the local business sector. Including workshops as well as a more traditional recruitment fair gave students access to a wider range of skills development sessions in smaller groups. It was a great day and I would personally like to thank all the organisations which contributed to its success.”
