What’s your day-to-day work routine?
I try to cycle into the office each day. I will then go through my inbox, calendar and to-do list. The rest of my day is spent on client calls, management meetings and addressing any queries raised by the team on client portfolios. In the summer I will try and sneak in nine holes after work.
What’s the most interesting thing about your work?
Assisting our clients in growing and consolidating their portfolios. The variety of the role means that each day is different, and you are constantly having to think on your feet.
What are you watching/reading/listening to?
I have started binge watching The Crown on Netflix. A who’s who of British actors.
During lockdown I listened to That Peter Crouch Podcast, a behind the scenes insight into the life of a modern-day footballer.
I have recently finished reading Graeme Armstrong’s debut novel, Young Team. Think Trainspotting meets This is England.
What are the last three accounts you followed on social media?
My England Golf, Nike Running Club and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank.
When are you happiest?
When on holiday with my fiancée enjoying local food and wine, or when Celtic win. It’s a close call.
What keeps you awake at night?
When there is a sale or purchase of a client asset going on it can be hard to switch off. Although I find watching some trash TV for half an hour normally helps.
What traits do you most like in yourself?
Staying calm in pressurised situations, being able to communicate ideas and objectives to a variety of stakeholders and the ability not to take myself too seriously.
What traits do you dislike in other people?
An unwillingness to listen to the views and opinions of others.
What do you do to relax?
It’s hard to beat 18 holes at La Moye on a summer’s day but I also enjoy going for runs around the lanes and beaches of St. Clement and trying to master the latest Jamie Oliver recipe.
How do you measure success?
Being happy in your personal and professional life and putting a smile on someone’s face each day.
