The Saffery Rotary Walk is one of Guernsey’s largest annual charity fundraising events and the only round-island walk. This is the sixth year that headline sponsor Saffery Champness has supported the walk.

Lisa Vizia, director at Saffery Champness and member of the organising committee, said: “Every year selecting the charities is a difficult task. There are so many worthy projects on the island and the number of applications have continued to increase over the years we’ve been involved.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to the local community, we aim to support as many charitable projects as possible and we feel that the committee’s choices this year represent a good cross section of island life. As always we hope many walkers sign up and raise as much as possible for these well deserving charities.”

Simon Milsted, chair of the walk’s organising committee, said: “The walk has significant impact on our community and its continued success is built on people taking part and generating sponsorship; so we’d like to encourage any potential walkers out there to take advantage of our early-bird offers and get registered as soon as possible, whether you are walking the full 39 miles or a section of it as part of a relay team. This will ensure that we are able to contribute the full amount that we have pledged to this year’s chosen charities.”

Early bird rates are available until the end of January. Those who register before 31 January will pay £20, after which time the registration fee will increase to £25. Relay teams can also take advantage of a similar offer. Teams of from four to seven walkers who wish to take on a section of the walk each can benefit from anearly bird price of £100, which will then increase to £140.

The 2019 Saffery Rotary Walk takes place on Saturday 15 June. Anyone who wishes to sign up can register by going to the event’s website: www.safferyrotarywalk.com
