This weekend, islanders will flock to the Vintage Agricultural Show sponsored by Islands Insurance. One event that shouldn’t be missed is the sheep racing.
Kindly sponsored by Islands for 2020, the races are sure to bring smiles as sheep run and jump over bales of hay in a bid to be crowned the fastest.
Will Woodford, Sales Director of Islands said: “We are pleased to be able to support the Vintage Agricultural Show with our sponsorship of the sheep races. 2020 has not been an easy year for many and we hope these races will bring some light and laughter to islanders. The entire team helped to name the races and we are all excited to see which sheep will be victorious”.
The sheep will line up at the starting line at 1:30pm, 2pm and 2:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Debuting at last year’s Show, the races proved to be a popular event and the organisers hope to see this continue with more races in the future.
“The sheep are quick. So, to add an extra challenge this year, the course has been extended to 75 yards with more hurdles added”, said Ron Le Cras of the Vintage Agricultural Show.
“Islands have strong connections with the local farming community, and we are very grateful for their sponsorship this year. The show is a step back in time, to the 1950s, with displays and activities. Some locals even wear their old Guernsey farming clothes from the period. It makes a great weekend out for the family”.
The third Vintage Agricultural Show will take place at Les Paysans this weekend. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children aged 5 or older.
