Tickets for the 2024 Christmas Lottery games, including the Annual Draw Game and instant win Christmas Extravaganza game, are now on sale.
The draw game has a guaranteed first prize starting of £300,000, which will rise as sales increase, 65 other drawn cash prizes ranging from £500 to £50,000 and over 150,000 instant cash prizes. The complementary instant game entitled ‘Christmas Extravaganza’ features £500,000 of instant win scratch prizes.
Head of Lottery, Jon Taylor said: “With two games now launched for Christmas, the traditional draw ticket priced at £2 and the new instant win game priced at £5, there’s plenty of chances to win whichever game you prefer to play. Most importantly, purchasing tickets for either game is a fantastic way to support funding towards essential charities and worthy causes across the Channel Islands.”
All Guernsey proceeds from the lottery are distributed to local charities by the Social Investment Fund, and the Channel Islands Lottery raised £2.5 million for good causes in 2023.
“We have released lots more prizes through a secondary Christmas game called Christmas Extravaganza, £500,000 in total. Our traditional draw-based game remains popular and over recent years the prize fund has been diversified to include far more smaller prizes to provide more chances to win along with a large first prize which rose to £500,000 last year.
“Ultimately, we want people to spend a proportionate amount on tickets and be responsible players. For most people, playing the Christmas lottery games is fun and entertaining, however for a small percentage of people playing can become a problem. Responsible Play is all about being informed, having fun and knowing your limit. Therefore, we do provide advice and support with information available via our website www.cilottery.com,” said Mr Taylor.
Jack Hobbs, Lottery Manager for Guernsey Post, the main distribution agent in Guernsey, said: “We’re delighted to support the distribution of this year’s Christmas lottery that raises funds for so many good causes throughout the Bailiwick.
“We will be distributing both Christmas games to shops and businesses throughout Guernsey and provide support to anyone looking to purchase tickets for a syndicate – you can simply call Guernsey Post for more information. We have seen more syndicates win prizes in recent years. If this trend continues maybe we’ll have another group of syndicate winners picking up the top prize again this year.”
