Rocquette Cider took their 1,000th tourist for the year round the orchard last week. The lucky person was Rowland Hardwick from St Peter Port who was given a case of Rocquette’s Traditional Cider by the company.
The Orchard Tours are in their 4th season and have steadily gained in popularity during that period. The target market is sports and social groups from local companies, visiting cruise liner passengers and other groups of friends having an evening out together. These include hen and stag parties and retirement parties.
The tours consist of a walk through the orchard which lasts 35/40 minutes followed by a tasting of Rocquette’s nine ciders and fruit liqueurs.
This is always accompanied by Guernsey cheeses from the States Dairy and Torteval cheese and is served with a choice of two apple chutneys made on the farm.
The tour lasts an hour and half and bookings are taken for parties of between 12 and 35 with the Company reserving the right to sell any unsold portion to smaller groups.
The tour is not totally apple related, however. There are also fish to feed in the lake and an observation beehive in the tasting barn where busy friends can be seen at close range.
The company is currently No1 on Trip Advisor’s “Things to do in Guernsey” list.
