Mat Dorrian, GP at Queens Road Medical Practice and ED doctor is in the hot seat today, reflecting on how 2020 has been for him both personally and professionally, his idea of a good Christmas and his hopes for 2021.
How has this year been for you personally?
We weren’t expecting to see a pandemic and all its effects on society worldwide.
I would say my lasting impressions are how lucky we are to live on a small island that has all the expertise to deal with the pandemic and how well we have all worked together.
How has this year been for you professionally?
Interesting and at times unsettling, but largely positive with great collaboration.
What’s your ‘hot take’ for 2020?
Bubble with another family that has kids the same age!
Tell us your hopes for 2021
Simple: I’m hoping for normality
What would you like to see the States of Guernsey focus on first in 2021?
After the year we’ve had – vaccinations!
What does a perfect Christmas for you look like?
Not on call and spending the day with family.
Do you prefer Christmas or New Year?
Christmas wins hands down.
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
Whatever the kids want to watch!
Are you ready for Christmas or do you wait until the last minute to get organised?
I never get organised for Christmas – not even at the last minute!
