Daisy Larbalestier, of Daisy’s Country Bakes, is in the hot seat today, reflecting on how 2020 has been for her both personally and professionally, her idea of a good Christmas and her hopes for 2021.
How has this year been for you personally?
This year has definitely been one to remember – it has also been my favourite year yet, feeling like I’ve finally found my feet and very excited for what the future holds for my business, Daisy’s Country Bakes.
How has this year been for you professionally?
Having always dreamt of a career in cookery, to be back in the kitchen doing what I absolutely love and incorporating my passion for photography, as cliché as it sounds, it really has been a dream come true!
What’s your ‘hot take’ for 2020?
How important it is to think outside the box! This year really has brought out so much creativity in so many of us on our lovely little island and I look forward to more upcoming ventures!
Tell us your hopes for 2021
I hope even when things become a little more normal, as time goes by, that we can all continue to support local.
What would you like to see the States of Jersey focus on first in 2021?
More encouragement on local spending to really help our economy get back on it’s feet!
What does a perfect Christmas for you look like?
Family all together, in good spirits, with plenty of delicious food and maybe a little wine in front of a toasty, crackling fire!
Do you prefer Christmas or New Year?
I personally love them equally! They both involve loved ones getting together to celebrate special occasions with good food and good wine!
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
Home Alone! Was always my favourite growing up, maybe because he was a crafty little one!
Are you ready for Christmas or do you wait until the last minute to get organised?
I absolutely love the build up to Christmas! I also love being super organised too, so the only thing being left would be to get stuck into the day!
What would you like Santa to leave under the tree for you this year?
A Kitchen Aid Mixer would be an absolute treat (sadly the mixer in the photo belongs to my sister!), I won’t hold my breath though!
