Every bride wants to look stunning, beautiful and relaxed on her Wedding Day and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
So it makes sense to prepare your look in advance so there are no nasty shocks on the morning of the ceremony. It’s very much expected that you’ll have several fittings for your gown so that there are no lumps or bumps in the wrong places, and we think you should also factor in time to experiment with the rest of your look too.
The last thing you want is to be seized with indecision and pre-wedding jitters and end up with a style that is an incoherent mishmash of ideas that doesn’t reflect how you want to look.
Give yourself time to experiment and try out different ways of having your hair, what sort of make-up you want and the kind of manicure you have in mind, so that on the day of your wedding you don’t have to think about it. You can just concentrate on being fabulous and marrying the partner of your dreams.
Perfection takes time
You’ll have a picture in your mind’s eye of how you’ll look on your wedding day. That’ll include the silhouette of your gown, whether you picture yourself with soft cascading curls or an up-do, a natural, dewy complexion or something a little more bold, you’ve no doubt got several Pinterest boards devoted to your wedding looks. We also bet that you’re torn between lots of lovely ideas that won’t all work together.
It’s easy to go on a flight of fancy when you’re flicking through Insta or the pages of a glossy bridal mag, imagining yourself wearing that totally impractical but gorgeous gown, with hair that’ll take you two years to grow.
We’re not saying a girl can’t dream, but think about wearing that ultra-restrictive corset for 18 hours and a bajillion hairpins and ask yourself is that really how you want to spend one of the best days of your life?
The preparation stage gives you the opportunity to try out your ideas, find out what works for you in reality and reject the more outlandish plans.
Make a decision
It’s great to gather ideas and collect mood boards but at some point you’ll need to focus on one look. That’s what the preparation stage is for. Book time with your hair stylist, your make-up artist and your nail technician to chat through your ideas.
Show them what you have in mind and talk through the practicalities of what can be achieved. You may need to temper your fantasy and come up with a more realistic plan.
We recommend that you have at least one full trial run of hair, make-up and manicure so that you can see how it all works together. Give yourself time to tweak your look and perfect it so that when the big day comes, you know you look a million bucks.
