Passengers are being warned of travel disruption in the Channel Islands this weekend due to the arrival of Storm Ciara. Condor has cancelled its sailings through to Monday, while Aurigny is giving customers the opportunity to change their travel plans in advance due to expected disruption.
The forecast for the weekend is for stormy weather which is due to worsen from Saturday night (8 February), with Sunday 9 February due to see the islands hit with heavy rain and disruptive winds. Those windy conditions are due to continue through Monday and possibly further into next week.
Condor has cancelled its Liberation sailings on Saturday 8, Sunday 9 and Monday 10 February, along with the Clipper sailing scheduled for Monday 10 February. All affected passengers are asked to contact Condor by phone on 0345 6091026 or through the live chat function on the website.
Aurigny says that it will do its best to operate its flight schedule, and no flights have been cancelled as yet. However, they are anticipating disruption, possibly from Saturday morning through to Tuesday evening. The Dornier operation to Alderney is expected to be the worst affected, although all flights could be disrupted.
Cross-winds are expected to affect the Alderney routes from Saturday, with disruption likely until the end of Tuesday 11 February. Aurigny currently believes it is possible that conditions will be out of operational limits for that period.
For other services, it is possible that conditions will be out of operational limits through Sunday and into the morning of Monday 10 February.
Aurigny is offering its passengers the opportunity to change their travel arrangements to avoid any possible disruption. Customers are able to change their flight to another (on the same route and in the same name) within the next seven days for no extra charge. Anybody wanting to change to a flight more than seven days in advance will not need to pay change fees but may need to pay any fare difference. Customers wishing to take advantage of this arrangement are asked to call the reservations team on 01481 267267.
