After last week’s rather thought-provoking piece, I wanted to look at celebrating what we have, as opposed to some of the challenges we can face.
The JHA is holding its annual Gala Dinner on Friday 18 October and combining it with a Hospitality Awards being nicknamed the ‘Hoscars’.
For us this is a chance to put our feet up and reflect on some of the positives that have been part of our last year. We face so many challenges in our day to day businesses and know that there are even more challenges ahead. Only yesterday, the Chief Minister announced some extreme duty rises in the future, which will only lessen our already diminishing ‘Value for Money’ status.
We want to get our members and those linked with our industry in a room. We want them to relax, have a fun evening, listen to the incredible band ‘Little Black Dress’, but more importantly, we want them to remember why they do all of this.
Our award categories will be released by the end of the month and take a written submission for anyone wishing to participate. A panel will be selected to choose a winner, and this will be presented on the night.
We are avoiding the cliché categories of ‘best venue’ etc and instead focusing on those venues and people who have given exceptionally to the industry.
We have seats still available for the dinner if anyone would want to attend. It’s a black-tie affair and will be held in the celestial hall at the royal Yacht Hotel. Early Bird tickets are available until the end of this month at £75 per ticket and will go up to £85 after that. If you are interested in individual tickets or even a table (8-12 people) then please send me an email for more information. Email: [email protected]
It’s time to take some time to ourselves and for one evening, stop celebrating others, and start celebrating our achievements.
