Jersey is launching a Visit Safe Charter to promote the island as a safe destination.
Created by Visit Jersey, in partnership with the government and the Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA), the charter aims to provide tourism and hospitality industries with a united approach to minimising the risk from Covid-19, as well as instil confidence in nervous travellers amid the pandemic.
‘Delighted to finally get this out to the industry to begin the implementation process. We are confident that the charter will add considerable value to local businesses and help instil confidence to businesses, locals and potential visitors too,’ said Simon Soar of the JHA.
According to Visit Jersey, research shows that many UK residents are feeling nervous about travelling again. The Visit Safe Charter aims to provide additional reassurance and demonstrate that members have made the required adaptations in readiness for welcoming visitors. Businesses that sign up will adhere to the charter’s guidelines and display the new Visit Safe logo.
‘Tourism is part of our island’s DNA and we want to help our industry thrive again,’ said Visit Jersey.
‘The Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) has found that a safety accreditation can have a much-needed, major positive impact upon visitor confidence.’
The 4 key goals of the Visit Safe Charter:
To provide Jersey’s tourism and hospitality industry with a united approach to dealing with the risk from Covid-19, and mitigating its impact on the visitor economy.
To give islanders and visitors confidence that robust measures and protocols are in place to combat Covid-19 in Jersey.
Giving a seal of approval to businesses that adhere to the Visit Safe guidelines. Members can display the Visit Safe logo to instil consumer confidence.
Unite the industry in marketing the Visit Safe Charter to give it a greater impact.
