If music be the food of love…

Having the perfect soundtrack on your big day makes a special occasion even more memorable.

And what could be more romantic than having your very own live music combo playing your favourite sounds as you exchange vows and celebrate with your loved ones?

Bossa Basseline are leading musicians husband and wife duo Carole and Jules Le Gresley. They’ve been performing  bespoke live saxophone and guitar for countless couples in Jersey over the past 17 years, at engagement parties, wedding ceremonies and receptions.

‘I met my musical partner, Jules, 17 years ago,’ says Carole.

‘Jules had popped over to Jersey for a week to visit friends and family, after many years of performing on the London and International jazz scene. We met by chance and, as I was already established as a professional guitarist in Jersey, we immediately started playing music together. Jules decided to stay in Jersey, and so Bossa Basseline Music was born.

‘We rapidly built up a strong following by word of mouth and over the years we’ve performed at thousands of gigs. Jules and I are now married and we are as obsessed about creating live music together as we were 17 years ago.’

Bossa Basseline can provide tailor-made live music to a couples’ exact specifications, playing jazz-infused arrangements of classic pop as well as love-songs, jazz, swing, rat-pack, latin-jazz, bossa nova, samba and easy-listening. They can even compose music especially for you.

The velvet sound of Jules’s tenor saxophone and Carole’s sophisticated finger-style guitar are the core of our Bossa Basseline Duo, however they can also perform as a trio or quartet by adding a jazz guitarist and percussion and drums. Carole also performs a diverse repertoire on solo guitar. They also play a range of vintage-style music which they perform on beautiful vintage instruments.

‘We love our role in creating the perfect atmosphere for the celebrations, whether we’re playing at an intimate wedding ceremony or for a big drinks reception outdoors,’ says Carole.

‘Sometimes the bride and groom will have a special request, and I really enjoy creating a unique arrangement of their tune – it makes their day even more memorable.’

Carole takes a pride in working closely with the couple.

‘We initially need the client’s wedding date, venue and timings, to confirm our availability. I then discuss the client’s requirements – I can make recommendations as to which act would be most suitable and I can also email over our repertoire lists so that the client can personalise the music we play to their tastes.

‘I’m always happy to meet up and have a chat. If we’re playing for a wedding ceremony, I can also attend the rehearsal. I’m a perfectionist and like to get absolutely all the details in place before the day.’
