Flybe’s Guernsey to Heathrow service has been cancelled.
The route, which has only been operating since last year, has been removed from Flybe’s summer schedule. The final flight will be on 28 March.
‘We have continued to explore and assess any possible opportunity that would at some point in the future have supported a longer-term commitment to this route,’ a Flybe spokesperson said.
The States of Guernsey subsidised the daily Guernsey-Heathrow route at a cost of £28 per passenger. Deputy Charles Parkinson, President of Economic Development, who has been in discussions with the airline, said the outcome was disappointing.
‘Whilst it is very disappointing that we will not be able to continue the Heathrow service into the summer season, we are very pleased that Flybe did confirm during our discussions that, from the beginning of May, they will fill the gap and operate the London Southend route.’
The news comes just a week after Blue Islands, a franchise partner of Flybe, announced the end of its Guernsey-London Southend and Liverpool routes.
