Joe Louis Walker won a Grammy with BB King, Aretha Franklin christened him “THE Bluesman” and Herbie Hancock praised him as a ‘National Treasure’ and now one of the most celebrated bluesmen of all time, Blues Music Hall Of Fame inductee Joe Louis Walker, is coming to Jersey’s famous Pomme d’Or Hotel for two very special shows as part of a set of shows exclusive to the Channel Islands.
In rare acoustic format and backed by the Channel Island’s own internationally acclaimed harmonica star Giles Robson, Joe will perform a very special and intimate VIP SESSION for just 40 people in the perfect up close environment of La Petite Pomme room on Thursday 20th March and includes a luxurious glass of Red wine – (Da Vinci Chianti) or White- (Pauletts Riesling) and a music only show in the Golden Apple Suite on Friday March 21st.
Joe and Giles recorded the 2019 Blues Music Award Winning album ‘Journeys To The Heart Of The Blues’ together. Released on Chicago’s Alligator Records and also featuring legendary pianist Bruce Katz. The album is considered one of the greatest pure blues albums of its time and was made a Downbeat Magazine album of the year and a Living Blues Album of the decade.
Joe and Giles will perform tracks for this album, amongst a select program of blues classics, Joe Louis Walker originals and a selection of Gospel tunes that reflect Joe’s time with The Spiritual Corinthians Gospel Quartet.
A true icon and legend of the blues who has recorded and performed with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Otis Rush, Tower Of Power, Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, Steve Cropper, Albert King and many other giants of the blues.
