The last few Eat Drink & Be Local (EDABL) columns have featured various Guernsey food and drink producers – now it’s the turn of just a few of the “Be Local” craft stalls that line the seafront of St Peter Port each EDABL Sunday with a stunning array of handmade crafts, embroidery, jewellery and so much more.
ETERNITY
Karen Savident and her emporium in Market Street, St Peter Port steps out each Seafront Sunday with a dazzling array hand painted and brightly coloured pottery bowls and plates alongside her quality leather goods from small purses to larger ladies handbags in all the colours of the rainbow. Part of the original Fresh Friday market, Karen has now extended her line of merchandise to include scarves and ladies fashion.
SARNIA SCENTS
Scents and senses are a winning combination for Dean Le Prevost and Rachel Adams with their scented candles – for every mood of the day – rejuvenating shampoos and conditioners that are 100% plastic free and their silky smooth face creams and body lotions. You heard it from one very happy local Guernsey customer “I am totally in love with these scents, they are amazing. The creams are just so silky and smooth and smell fantastic. Would highly recommend trying these products.”
NORTH COMMNITY MARKET
Michaela Cleal and her regular North Community market stall is a clear favourite with islanders and cruise liner passengers alike. From beautifully hand embroidered towels of all sizes (including hand & guest towels plus bath sheets) to embroidered aprons, baby blankets, quilts cushions and table runners – each with its own Guernsey signature – be it puffins, donkey and dolphins to name but a few.
CHUTTSIE CRAFTS
With the by-line ‘Handmade Gifts from Guernsey’ Lyn and Julie’s stall always attracts a crowd to view and purchase their hand crafted soft toys and educational gifts along with brightly coloured and patterned aprons, peg and shopping bags. There is literally nothing that these ladies can’t turn their needle and thread to!
MAZZOUK
Colour, colour and more colour is the only way to describe Mazzouk’s stunning array of rattan and leather bags, handbags, holdalls, hats plus so much more. There is literally a colour for every day of summer and Mazz carefully selects stock so that she only has a limited number of any one item – make sure you grab yours before someone else does!
You can find all the above stall holders on Facebook and watch this column in coming weeks for new artisan, craft and charity stall holders who are putting so much effort and endeavour into the phrase “Be Local”, part at of Eat Drink & Be Local in Guernsey.
