
Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)
Skipton International Limited (Skipton) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to manage our financial crime regulatory risk.
Based in Guernsey, the MLRO will operate under the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) and Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) regulatory regimes, reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer.
Key responsibilities
- Compliance Management: Develop and maintain effective AML policies, procedures, and controls. Act as the primary contact for internal AML Suspicious Transaction Reports (SARs) and manage the external reporting process.
- Monitoring and Screening: Implement and periodically review Skipton’s Monitoring and Screening Program, ensuring compliance with AML regulations.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay abreast of new legal and regulatory developments, ensuring compliance frameworks are updated accordingly.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, regulatory authorities, and external service providers to resolve compliance issues.
- Training: Design and deliver AML training programs for employees, ensuring ongoing compliance awareness.
- Risk Assessment: Regularly update and present the Business Risk Assessment to the Executive Committee and Board.
- Reporting: Provide monthly updates on SARs and financial crime compliance to the Board and Executive Committee.
Essential requirements
- Educated to Diploma Level.
- Membership of applicable professional institution.
- Minimum of 4 to 5 years’ experience in compliance/risk or working with financial services regulator with at least 2 to 3 years experience.
- Previous experience in a regulated financial/non-financial firm as Compliance Officer or MLRO.
- Hands-on experience in liaising with regulators and managing the Suspicious Activity Review (SAR) process.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships both within the company and the wider business environment to achieve objectives.
- Proven ability to influence, engage and work in partnership with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret complex regulation.
- Experience of team leadership, development, and line management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of operational processes, procedures, and technology.
