British Airways flights to Jersey will now depart from Heathrow instead of Gatwick in July.
It will be the first time in 11 years that the island has had a direct service with the UK’s largest airport.
The change is part of a huge reorganisation of operations for the airline, which has switched many short-haul flights from Gatwick Airport to its main hub at Heathrow.
The airline’s website lists flights to Jersey from Gatwick in August, but British Airways has warned that it may abandon Gatwick altogether or drastically cut its operations there.
‘We recommend all customers check for the latest on their flight on ba.com,’ said a spokesperson for British Airways.
It is not yet clear if passengers who incur additional expenses as a result of the airport switch will be reimbursed.
British Airways has come under fire for its treatment of staff during the coronavirus pandemic, with plans to cut up to 12,000 jobs and change working conditions.
