The AA Hospitality Awards has named the best pubs, restaurants and hotels from around the UK.
From a five-star country house hotel to a cosy village pub, the winners were announced at a glittering event at London’s Grosvenor House.
The prestigious gongs are based on feedback from AA inspectors, who spend 12 months scouring England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for the very best of food and accommodation. Here are the results:
Best hotels
Chewton Glen in New Milton, Hampshire, was awarded Hotel of the Year for England. The luxury country house was praised for its forward thinking eco-friendly treehouse accommodation.
The striking Landmark London picked up the award for best London hotel, while The Grove in Narbeth, an elegant 17th-century country house, was named Hotel of the Year for Wales.
Hotel of the Year for Scotland went to The Gleneagles Hotel, Auchterarder, a peaceful retreat set in 850 acres of countryside, and impressing judges with its contemporary ambience was The Fitzwilliam in Belfast, taking the Northern Ireland title.
Best restaurants
Restaurant of the Year, England, was won by the Fordwich Arms in Canterbury, for its new-wave modern British cuisine, and London’s best restaurant award was snagged by seafood hot-spot Cornerstone by Chef Tom Brown.
The chic and modern Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias in Colwyn Bay came out on top in Wales and The Sugar Boat in Helensburgh was named the best in Scotland thanks to its ‘hearty modern bistro cooking.’

The Glynne Arms in Hawarden scooped the title of Best Pub in Wales, while Pub of the Year, England, went to The Three Daggers in Edington, Wiltshire. Scotland’s Meikleour Arms, just north of Perth, came out on top for 2019.
