SUMMARY:Employment and Skills 2026
DESCRIPTION:Around 1,400 young people can explore careers at Employment and Skills 2026 at the Villa Marina in Douglas on Thursday 12 November.\nThe Department of Education, Sport and Culture’s event lets students talk openly with employers. They can find out about different careers and “learn as you earn” routes, such as apprenticeships.\nStudents from secondary schools, University College Isle of Man (UCM) and King William’s College can speak to around 60 employers from sectors including finance, engineering and the creative industries. There will also be information on internships and other ways to gain professional qualifications while working.\nSarah Maltby MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, said: “Young people can explore pathways that align with their interests and skills, while speaking directly with employers who can offer valuable advice and guidance to help them make informed decisions about their future.\n“This year, we also want to hear from attendees about how we can refresh and improve our events. By gathering their feedback on what they would like to see, experience and gain from future events, we hope to shape a more engaging, relevant and valuable programme that better meets their needs and aspirations.”\nThe event is also open to the public from 3pm to 5pm. Adults thinking about a career change are welcome, as are parents and carers who want to attend with their older children after school.\n
