SUMMARY:Purpose Over Pay: Examining shifting talent demands in the local market
DESCRIPTION:The Institute of Directors (IoD) Jersey will host an executive webinar exploring how changing workforce priorities are transforming recruitment and retention across the island’s business community.\nTitled Purpose over Pay: The Next Generation’s Demands from an Employer Value Proposition, the event will examine why emerging leaders increasingly prioritise corporate purpose, social impact, and value alignment alongside remuneration.\nJointly organized by IoD Jersey’s Sustainability Sub-Committee and the People, Leadership & Strategy Sub-Committee, the virtual session will provide local business leaders, directors, and HR strategists with actionable approaches to modernizing their Employer Value Propositions (EVPs).\n“Young professionals entering leadership pipelines are demanding clear alignment between company actions and their personal values,” said Tom Noel, Chair of the IoD Jersey Sustainability Sub-Committee and event host. “Competitive salaries are no longer sufficient on their own. Jersey businesses must understand how to integrate genuine purpose into their culture if they expect to secure and retain top-tier talent.”\nThe one-hour session features three industry speakers who will share data, market trends, and organizational case studies:\n\nCam Stables, Director at Park Executive, will assess current realities within the local talent pool. Drawing from recruitment case studies, he will examine candidate expectations, what competitive employers in Jersey are delivering, and why young professionals leave roles lacking meaningful mission.\nHannah Gleave, Chief People and Sustainability Officer at Ports of Jersey, will present an employer perspective on embedding purpose into operational culture. Gleave will outline the quantifiable benefits Ports of Jersey has realized following major milestones, including Airport Carbon Accreditation Level Four ‘Transformation’ status and EcoPorts Port Environmental Review System (PERS) certification.\nAlexis Ellis, Executive Director of People & Culture at the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC), will provide strategic guidance on organizational design, transformation, and purpose-driven leadership models cultivated across local, European, and global remits.\n\nThis is a Virtual Webinar and the access link will be issued to registered attendees two weeks prior.\n
