SUMMARY:Full Bloom: A solo exhibition by Jersey artist Danny Booth
DESCRIPTION:ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to present Full Bloom, a vibrant new solo exhibition by Jersey artist Danny Booth, opening at Capital House on Friday 31 July as part of the organisation’s New Work Programme, sponsored by Coutts Crown Dependencies.\nOver many years, Jersey artist Danny Booth has developed a distinctive artistic practice inspired by flowers, gardens and the changing seasons. Working across painting, sculpture and installation, he transforms familiar natural forms into richly textured works that capture not simply the appearance of nature, but the experience of being immersed within it. His work invites us to slow down and rediscover moments of wonder that often pass unnoticed.\nFull Bloom marks the most ambitious presentation of Danny’s work to date. Bringing together a significant body of previously unseen work alongside a series of new paintings and sculptural commissions developed through ArtHouse Jersey’s New Work Programme, the exhibition transforms Capital House into an immersive world of colour, texture and seasonal change. All of the works presented in Full Bloom will be exhibited publicly for the first time. Visitors are encouraged to wander at their own pace, discovering works that shift between observation and abstraction, rewarding curiosity with new details, perspectives and surprises.\nPictured: Danny Booth by Blake Waston\nArtist Danny Booth said: “Full Bloom grew from my fascination with plants and the natural world. I began painting flowers as a way of preserving their fleeting beauty, growing and observing each one before recreating it in the studio. As the body of work developed, I found that my time in the garden and my time painting gradually became inseparable – they evolved into one continuous creative practice. Through this exhibition, I hope visitors are inspired to slow down, look more closely, and be reminded that we are always surrounded by the extraordinary beauty of the natural world.”\nAlongside the exhibition, ArtHouse Jersey has created a programme of events offering different ways to experience the work throughout August.\nHighlights include Botanical Late on Thursday 6 August, an evening of art, seasonal canapés by Michelin-starred chef Will Holland, botanical-inspired cocktails from The Yard, and live DJ set from Ben Newman. Visitors can also enjoy an Artist Talk with Danny Booth, a Screenprinting Workshop with Luddite Press, and a relaxed After Hours gallery opening later in the month.\nFamilies are especially welcome throughout the exhibition. Every Tuesday morning from 10.30am to 12pm, Capital House will host Noisy Time, providing a relaxed space for children and their grown-ups to explore together. A free Full Bloom Seasonal Activity Book will also be available, encouraging young visitors to continue their creative journey at home through drawing, making and observation.\nFor the first time, ArtHouse Jersey will also offer both audio description and ‘go deeper’ audio insights throughout the exhibition, offering visitors more ways to\nexperience Danny’s work and helping make the exhibition more accessible.\nRobyn Cabaret, Producer at ArtHouse Jersey, said: “Danny has an extraordinary ability to find wonder in the familiar, transforming flowers, plants, and seasonal\nlandscapes into something both recognisable and unexpected. Rather than representing nature literally, he captures the experience of moving through it – the shifting colours, changing light, rich textures, and moments of quiet surprise that so often go unnoticed.\n“Full Bloom rewards curiosity. Whether you’re someone who regularly visits galleries or you’re walking through our doors for the very first time, the more time you spend with the work, the more it reveals. Through our New Work Programme, we’re proud to support artists to realise ambitious new projects and create opportunities for Islanders to experience contemporary art in welcoming and accessible ways.”\nHead of Coutts Crown Dependencies, Dennis Howard, said: “Coutts Crown Dependencies are proud to support ArtHouse Jersey’s New Work Programme and Full Bloom. This partnership reflects our commitment to helping local artists realise ambitious new work and to strengthening the cultural life of our community.”\n\nPictured: Danny Booth by Blake Waston\n
