SUMMARY:Pilates World Record Attempt
DESCRIPTION:Isle of Man residents and visitors have the chance to be part of a landmark moment this summer, and win £1,000, by taking part in the Pilates World Record Attempt at Knockaloe on Sunday 19th July 2026.\nThe Isle of Man will attempt to break the world record for the largest single Pilates class, with organisers aiming to bring thousands of people together for what is being described as a global “Pilates homecoming”.\nThe world record attempt itself is a simple, 30-minute standing Pilates class, led by leading instructors and designed to be fully inclusive and accessible. Organised by Ramsey Crookall and 34Moves, and supported by Visit Isle of Man, the event is open to all ages and abilities. No prior Pilates experience is needed, making it easy for anyone to get involved and be part of history.\nThe event will take place at Knockaloe, where Joseph Pilates began developing the principles that would go on to shape a movement now practised by millions worldwide. Hosting the world record attempt at this historic location offers a rare opportunity for locals and visitors alike to reconnect with that story and celebrate the Island’s influence on global wellness.\nThe £1,000 prize includes two £500 vouchers for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and Island Escapes/Sapphire Holidays, with all those who attend the event and take part in the world record attempt automatically entered into the draw.\nAlongside the world record attempt, attendees can enjoy a full-day Wellness Festival and Charity Village, offering a packed programme of activity for just £8 per ticket for adults (£4 for children 7-17 and free for under 6) with proceeds from all ticket sales going to a selection of charities. The event will feature guest speakers including John Rhys-Davies, as well as over 80 vendors and businesses across health and wellness, food and drink, charities, and family-friendly entertainment.\nDeborah Heather, CEO of Visit Isle of Man, said: “This is a truly special moment for the Isle of Man and a fantastic opportunity for both residents and visitors to come together and celebrate a global story that began right here. The Island’s connection to Pilates is unique, and this event brings that heritage to life in a way that is inclusive, inspiring and enjoyable for everyone – a true reflection of our Extraordinary Isle and its strength in wellbeing, community and connection.\n“With the current world record standing at 3,486 participants, we would encourage as many people as possible to get involved, not only to help us bring that record home to the Isle of Man, but to enjoy a brilliant day of wellness and celebration, with the added opportunity to be in with a chance of winning £1,000 by taking part.’\nSarah Maltby MHK, Political Member with responsibility for Tourism, Motorsport and Heritage, said: “Events like this play an important role in strengthening our communities, bringing people together through shared experiences that are inclusive, accessible and positive. The Pilates World Record Attempt is a great example of how we can celebrate our heritage while encouraging people across the Island to take part in something meaningful and memorable.”\nJoanna Crookall, CEO of Ramsey Crookall, added: “As we mark 80 years of Ramsey Crookall on the Isle of Man, we’re delighted to be organising this event on the Island. Bringing a global wellness community together at Knockaloe, a place of such historical significance, feels both meaningful and inspiring. As a Manx family business, supporting initiatives that promote wellbeing, connection and positive experiences on the Island is something we genuinely care about, and this event reflects that commitment.”\nRuby Griffiths, Founder of 34Moves, added: “I feel so proud to be one of the organisers of this world record attempt and wellness event. Having dedicated my life to studying the human mind and movement, it feels very special to honour the Pilates method in the location where it was first shaped. Through this festival, we hope to create an experience that supports overall wellbeing by connecting all attendees with wellness-related initiatives. Working alongside partners with such a strong heritage, including Ramsey Crookall and Visit Isle of Man, adds real depth to this moment, and we are proud to be developing the event together.”\n
