SUMMARY:Education in an AI World
DESCRIPTION:Jersey College for Girls will be hosting ‘Education in an AI World’, a forward-thinking conference bringing together leading experts, educators and students to\nexplore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on education.\nSponsored by R3nquist, the free one-day event will take place on Friday 26 June at JCG. It aims to equip teachers, education professionals and Sixth Form students with the tools, insights and critical understanding needed to navigate an increasingly AI-driven world, with two separate programmes, culminating with a presentation for parents.\nEducators and other professionals programme\nOpen to all educators and interested adults, the free conference will feature a line-up of speakers at the forefront of digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and\neducational strategy:\n\nDr Kaitlyn Regehr, Associate Professor of Digital Humanities at University College London and a leading voice on digital and AI literacy. Dr Regehr has\nadvised on online safety legislation and is widely recognised for her work on the societal impact of algorithms and digital technologies.\nAmelia King, Director of Digital Transformation at Dulwich College London and author of ‘Thinking with AI’, whose expertise in digital pedagogy and innovation has helped shape modern learning environments.\nDominik Lukes, AI Consultant at Oxford University’s Centre for AI Competency, who specialises in the use of generative AI within academic practice.\n\nAll three will be providing keynote talks as well as workshops for educators and other professionals. The topics covered will include ‘Current research on AI literacy’, ‘Practical approaches to teaching and learning with AI’, and ‘The evolving role of education in a ‘cognitive revolution’.\nSixth Form programme\nRecognising the importance of helping develop digitally literate and responsible students, the event will also include a dedicated programme for Year 12  students, with sessions focusing on topics such as how to use AI for learning, preparing for an artificial future and the environmental impact of AI in schools.\nParent Presentation\nAt the end of the day, Amelia King will be presenting a talk on ‘Thinking with AI’, which is open to parents of all students.\nSimon Lewis, Assistant Headteacher at JCG, explained: “The Conference will explore critical themes including preparing students for an AI-driven future, the science of learning in the age of AI, the emerging cognitive revolution and innovative uses of AI in developing teaching materials. There will be a parallel  conference for Year 12 students, exploring similar themes with a focus on learning in the present and future.”\n
