SUMMARY:Let’s Dance!
DESCRIPTION:This year, Guernsey Arts and the Guernsey Sports Commission have joined forces to bring a free day of dance taster sessions to the community.\nOn 8th March, between 10am and 2pm there will be free dance taster sessions at Les Beaucamps School from Bhangra to Traditional Guernsey Dance, as part of the ‘Let’s Dance’ National campaign, which encourages the nation to get dancing.\nThe ‘Let’s Dance’ initiative is spearheaded by Angela Rippon CBE and is all about raising awareness of the benefits of dance for physical and mental health, as well as bringing people together through dance and encouraging those that don’t usually dance to give it a go.\nDancing is both an art and a sport, but ultimately gets people moving together to tackle chronic health challenges, combat loneliness and fulfil a social need. Having launched the Guernsey participation in 2025, Guernsey Arts are thrilled to be joined by the Guernsey Sports Commission in celebrating the movement in 2026.\nNicky Will, Director of Communication – Guernsey Sports Commission, said: “Dance is an amazing way to boost both your physical and mental health and keep active. It’s a great way to meet new people, make social connections and have fun.\n“In supporting the national Let’s Dance campaign we want to show that everyone can enjoy and participate in dancing whatever your age or ability and we’re excited to showcase such a wide range of dance styles on offer in Guernsey. Come along and join in.”\nJade Kershaw, Community & Public Realm Officer – Guernsey Arts,  commented: “Guernsey Arts are thrilled to be partnering with Guernsey Sports Commission to bring free dance to the public. This campaign is an excellent example of bringing creativity and active movement together to benefit overall wellbeing. We are pleased to be able to support the initiative with these free sessions and hope that all within the community feel welcome to come and explore a new dance form.”\n
